The constellation of Bootes constellation is a typical member of the northern hemisphere which is located between declination + 10 ° and + 60 ° and right ascension 15h45 '35 and 13h'.
In the picture you can see the constellation as a whole with the inclusion of photos of major stars that I run in the night of 21.05.2014.
The best time to observe the northern hemisphere is the hemisphere spring and is easily recognizable thanks to its brightest star Arcturus with its magnitude of -0.05 is one of the most brilliant of the whole sky.
It is a red giant and to the naked eye appears orange.
The star epsilon is known as Izar / Pulcherrima, which in Latin means beautiful because it is a double star whose components have different color and brightness, the main color is yellow-orange the secondary (much weaker) is white-blue .
To be able to appreciate the beauty telescopes are needed with openings of at least 150mm.
Mufrid is a yellow subgiant star 37 light-years from Earth with apparent magnitude of 2.68.

Major variable stars that can be observed and studied also with binoculars or small telescopes.

Pulcherimma the star ε Bootis, also known as Izar, belongs to the constellation Bootes.
is a double star of magnitude 2.35 overall from Earth 210 years-light.

Ha coordinate:

AR:      14h 44' 59''
DEC:   +27° 04' 27''

The brightest component is an orange giant whose spectral class K0 mass 4 times that of the Sun and a solar radius 33 times higher.
It has a surface temperature of 4500 ° K and an estimated age of 300 million years.
The smaller and less luminous component is a white star of spectral class A2 with an apparent magnitude of 5.12.
Component B has a mass of 2 times that of the Sun with a radius 2 times higher.
Its surface temperature is 8700 ° K.

The separation of the two stars is not so easy as the apparent separation is only 2.8 '' which involves the use of a telescope of at least 150mm with 100x magnifications to be able to divide.

Arcturus, the star of the constellation Bootes α, is an orange giant of spectral type K1, 5 IIIpe and with its remarkable apparent magnitude of -0.04 appears to be the brightest star in the northern hemisphere and the fourth brightest of the entire sky .
It 'easy to spot with the naked eye and detectable by extending an imaginary line from the helm of the' Big Dipper to the south

AR:      14h 15' 39''
DEC:    19° 10' 56''

It is 36.7 light-years from Earth.
The surface temperature of Arturo is lower than that of our Sun with 4300 ° K which is of 5800 ° K and therefore has a characteristic orange color.
Arturo being a giant star has a mean radius of 25.5 compared to solar and this makes it very large relative to the Sun, in fact if it was placed inside the solar system, would occupy one quarter of the 'orbit of Mercury.
