M106 è una galassia a spirale conosciuta anche con il nome NGC 4258 che si trova nella costellazione dei Cani da Caccia, coordinate

Presenta una magnitudine apparente di 8,4 e dista dalla Terra circa 23 milioni di anni-luce con una dimensione apparente di 18,6' x 7,2'
M106 è facilmente individuabile con un binocolo 10x50 in una notte stellata, con un telescopio di piccole dimensioni è possibile osservare il nucleo mentre con strumenti di 150-200 mm di apertura si riesce a vedere nettamente qualche particolare delle braccia a spirale ed i cambi di luminosità propri della galassia.

It has an apparent magnitude of 8.4, and the Earth is about 23 million light-years with an apparent size of 18.6 'x 7.2' 
M106 is easily identifiable with a 10x50 binoculars on a starry night, with a small telescope you can observe the nucleus and with instruments of 150-200 mm aperture you can clearly see some details of the spiral arms and the brightness changes own Galaxy.

M106 ha un diametro di 30 mila anni luce e la parte più affascinante della galassia sono i suoi bracci a spirali molto evidenti.
Infatti sui bracci di M106 di distribuiscono moltissimi ammassi di giovani stelle di colore blu-bianco interrotti a sprazzi da stelle rosse vecchie.
Mentre al suo interno, al centro della galassia, sembra esserci un enorme buco nero supermassiccio su cui sta "precipitando" l'intera galassia

La foto di M106 l'ho scattata nella notte del 09/06/2014 dal giardino della mia casa in una zona della periferia di Treviso, a fuoco diretto con il telescopio Newton Celestron C8 su montatura HEQ5 Pro e Reflex D5000.
La foto è risultato di 21 frame da 60 sec a 800ISO, 12 dark e 21 flat

The photo of the M106 I have taken on the night of 06.09.2014 from the garden of my house in an area on the outskirts of Treviso, direct fire with the Newton telescope Celestron C8 on HEQ5 Pro mount and SLR D5000. 
The photo is the result of 21 frames from 60 sec to 800ISO, 12 dark and 21 flat
